Friday Funday - Bauble Bar for Nordstrom

I am beyond excited about this week's Friday Funday! As I wrote in my post the other day, one of my favorite places to shop for jewelry is Bauble Bar. This week they launched a collection for Nordstrom with pop up shops in 35 select Nordstrom stores for a limited time. The collection is amazing and the best part is, because it is for Nordstrom I have access to it on my online personal styling platform! Yay!

The collection is full of budget friendly pieces that start at just $24. There are gorgeous necklaces, earrings and bracelets that work so well together and could easily mix and match. I love so many pieces it is hard to choose my favorites but I am working on my list and going to place my order soon before they are sold out. This collection will not last long so if there are pieces that you love you better buy them quickly! The photos above are just a few pieces of the collection. I have created an entire Lookbook just for these beauties and you can view it here. You'll be able to see detailed information and pricing for each item. Many of the pieces come in multiple colors so check the drop down box on each item. Make sure you click on the arrow on the right side of each Lookbook page to scroll to the next page.

When you place an order through my Lookbook you will receive free shipping and free returns. If you have any questions or if you would like for me to style you for free and put together a Lookbook of outfits just for you let me know.

What are your must have pieces of this collection? I'd love to know!

Happy shopping and have a great weekend!

What to Wear Wednesday - A Statement Necklace

Photo via Kendra Scott

Photo via Stella & Dot

Long gone are the days of wearing big statement necklaces only when you are going to a special event and you are all dressed up! These days big and bold are the kind of necklaces you wear everyday with casual pieces like tees and tanks. If you haven't updated your jewelry recently start with statement necklaces.

Statement necklaces should be a huge part of your wardrobe because they can change the look of an entire outfit. You can find a wide variety of colors, shapes, stones, styles and prices to choose from. Invest in some nice pieces in classic colors that you will wear often and then pick up a few inexpensive, trendy pieces to mix in your wardrobe from time to time.

When you wear a statement necklace keep your earrings small and simple. You don't want to wear a statement necklace and statement earrings at the same time. Use the necklace to add a contrasting color or pop of color when putting a look together because you are looking for it to stand out, not blend in.

While shopping online I ran across this necklace and love the mint color for Spring and Summer! I also love the bold green and blue of this necklace. Doesn't it look so pretty against that yellow? Some of my favorite places to shop for statement necklaces are Bauble Bar, Stella & Dot, J. Crew, and Kendra Scott. You can also find plenty of inexpensive ones to choose from in stores at your local mall.

Do you wear statement necklaces on a regular basis? Where are your favorite places to shop for jewelry? Leave me a comment, I'd love to know!

Friday Funday

You know those weeks when you seem to always be drawn to certain colors? Well this week I seem to have a color crush on bright yellow and shades of blue. Every single thing I have paused to look at seems to be those colors. So it only seemed appropriate that I dedicated this Friday Funday to blue and yellow!

Once I started pulling pieces for this post and began laying them out in the collage I started seeing how easily they all work together. Imagine the turquoise jewelry with the yellow dress or the yellow shoes or clutch with the blue dress. I am loving these colors together! They are such happy, fresh Spring colors and would be perfect for Easter.

Speaking of Easter, do you realize it is only three weeks away? THREE weeks! Have you thought about what you are going to wear? There's still time for me to put some looks together for you! It's absolutely free online, you only pay for the items that you purchase if there is a look or an item that you love. If they don't work out you just return them for free too. To get started click here and request to be styled by me. I'll email you a Lookbook within a few days and you'll have lots of looks customized just for you.

To shop the items above click here to view the Friday Funday Lookbook. You'll be able to see detailed information, including pricing, for each of the items. If you click on the arrow on the right side of each Lookbook page you"ll be able to shop the looks from previous Friday Fundays as well. If you have any questions please let me know!

What colors have you been crushing on lately? I'd love to hear from you!

What to Wear Wednesday - A Bold Lip Color

 Photos via Bite Beauty

I don't know about you but as soon as Spring arrives so does my urge to buy fun, new lip colors! I love looking at the rows of colors in the stores and I could spend hours testing different shades on my hand. Even though I definitely have my favorites, I always push myself to try something new and experiment with different shades. That is what I am hoping to encourage you to do today if you are one to shy away from bold lip color or even if you are just one to always migrate to the same shades.

If you haven't noticed color is in! Bold, bright colors, even neons are everywhere these days in clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags and yes, beauty products. Surprisingly a lot of women are afraid of color, especially when it comes to bold colors, and when you mention putting a bold color on their face they turn green! A bold lip is a great way to instantly update your makeup and brighten up your face. It takes some getting used to, like everything, but once you get used to seeing yourself in it you will learn to love it. Will all shades work well on you? No, of course not. Spend some time testing different shades and bring along a friend for some honest feedback. If you are in a store like Sephora or Ulta ask for help and some suggestions of some bright colors that would work well on you.

Don't give up if the first one you try doesn't work for you! I have found that usually a color looks completely different on than the packaging or the color that you see as a sample. In some cases it can even look different on your lips than it did on your hand, it all depends on the natural color of your lips. Just keep in mind that if you aren't used to seeing yourself in a bright color you may need to give it some time to get used to seeing yourself in it before you decide on the shade.

A few bold lip colors that I am loving lately are Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Yu, Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Satsuma and Clementine and bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Never Say Never. Not only do I love these shades but I love the formula as well. I have found them to be creamy, long lasting and they stay put. As much as I love lipsticks and lip glosses, lately I have become a huge fan of the lip pencils and crayons that wear like lipstick. If you haven't tried them yet you should check them out!

So are you willing to try something new and try a bold lip color? Or if you are already a bright lover what are some of your favorite brands and shades? I'd love to hear from you!

Friday Funday

Happy Spring! Can you believe it is finally here? The first day of Spring here in Florida was appropriately a beautiful, warm and sunny day. This week flew by for me and I can't believe it is Friday already. I spent four days in Atlanta earlier in the week and with the exception of one day, the rest of the time it was rainy and cold. I've spent the last couple of days catching up on work and loved seeing all of the new merchandise that has been added online. Friday Funday

I'm so happy Friday is finally here! It has been a busy week for me and I am ready for some weekend fun. After going through my Spring and Summer wardrobe recently I have my list of items I need to shop for and I plan on checking some of those items off of my list this weekend. If you haven't done the same recently I highly recommend you spend some time evaluating what specific things your wardrobe is lacking this season. It will make it so much easier when you are out shopping and more than likely you/ll spend less on spontaneous buys that you really didn't need.

These are the items I chose for you this week. It is a mix of color, neutrals and patterns which is what your closet should look like! If you have too much of one of those then that tells you what you are lacking and need to shop for.

To shop any of these items click here to view the Friday Funday Lookbook. You'll see details and pricing information for each item listed above. If you purchase any of these items you'll receive free shipping and free returns. You can also view items from previous Friday Funday weeks by clicking on the arrow on the right side of each page of the Lookbook. I'd love to hear from you and know if it is something you are enjoying and would like for me to continue.

Friday Funday

I think it is safe to say that we are all ready for Spring! Living in the beach community in Florida where I live all of the local talk is about Spring Break and how this week was the start of our little town being invaded by what we like to call the "Spring Beakers". So even though we are having unusually chilly weather for this time of year, my focus has been all about the warm temps that are right around the corner, the hours I will spend floating in my pool and the days we will spend on the beach.

These thoughts instantly bring up images in my head of blue and green, which happen to be a couple of my favorite colors when it comes to clothes and accessories! Because those are the colors that I have been drawn to this week, I thought I would make this Friday Funday all about that color scheme and get us all thinking of the sunny days ahead.

To shop any of these items and get FREE shipping and FREE returns click here  to view the Friday Funday Lookbook. You'll see item details and pricing information for each item pictured above. You can also view the items from previous weeks by clicking on the arrow on the right of each page of the Lookbook. If you have any questions please let me know and as always, if you'd like some customized looks put together just for you click here and request to be styled by me. It's free and there's no obligation to ever purchase anything!

Happy shopping and have a great weekend!

Navy and White Stripes

I posted this picture on Instagram last week and since then have had multiple conversations with different people about what to wear with navy and white stripes. So I thought I would do a quick follow up blog post about it and hopefully answer some questions that you may have or give you some ideas.

If you have done any shopping lately you may have noticed that there is a lot of nautical themed clothes out there this season, which includes navy and white stripes. This classic look has been around for a long time and is nothing new but pairing it with a lot of color or other patterns is and that seems to be the problem that a lot of people are having. If you think of navy and white stripes as a neutral it will easily take the guessing game out of what colors to wear with it.

Photos via Pinterest

Neons are a big trend right now and I love to pair the muted tones of navy and white with a neon pink, orange or yellow. I also love coral and shades of green paired with it like emerald green and even some blues like cobalt, turquoise or aqua with certain looks. You can also mix it with other patterns so don't be afraid to give that a try! If you are wearing a navy and white striped shirt brighten it up with a bold colored necklace, belt, jeans or shoes. If you are wearing a navy and white striped dress pair it with a bright colored blazer, necklace, shoes or clutch. The possibilities are truly endless.

I know that some of you are not into (or comfortable) with wearing stripes and even though you can and should give it a try, there are other ways to incorporate stripes into your look without "wearing" them. There are plenty of accessories to choose from! I love a good navy and white striped shoe and mine has become a staple. When you are wearing solid colored clothes add some patterns with your accessories to help break up the look. Whether it is your shoes, your handbag, your belt or a scarf, it will instantly change your look.

I hope that helps you and encourages you to get out there and buy some navy and white stripes! Play around with different colors and patterns until you find looks that you love. What colors do you like to wear with navy and white stripes or what colors do you want to try?

Friday Funday

It's finally Friday and that means it's Friday Funday! The items that I chose this week are of a similar color palette. Spring's "It" Shoe - The Mule

One / Two / Three / Four / Five

One / Two / Three / Four / Five / Six

The Mule, once thought of as your Grandma's shoe, has gotten a modern makeover to become this Spring's "It" shoe. The backless shoe is no longer just one shape with a clunky style. There are now endless variations of shapes, heights, colors and styles to choose from. With those kinds of options anyone can wear this seasons trend.

Above are some mule options for every budget. Keep in mind when shopping for a pair that they will still be on trend for Fall so if you don't want to invest in multiple styles, choose one that can carry you into the Fall season.

What do you think of this Spring's "It" shoe? Are you on board or does it make you want to jump ship?! After seeing some of the new sleek styles I'm on board. Shoe shopping anyone?

New York Fashion Week - Fall 2014

All six looks above are from Rebecca Minkoff. I love the variation of her collection this year from cool girl bold plaid and metallics to soft pastel feminine hues.
I was intrigued by watching this collection by Mathieu Mirano. He is a young, relatively new designer and as you can see from several of his looks above, I think he is one to watch.

I know right now we are all focused on Spring and starting to put together our warm weather looks but last week in New York it was all about Fall 2014. Designers showed their collections while editors, buyers and bloggers watched with excited anticipation of what's to come! I have to admit, I'm a Fall and Winter kind of girl, so this is always my favorite fashion week. There is something about cozy sweaters, rich colors, leather jackets, boots and metallics that makes you want to get all dressed up. So even though you may want to wait until August to think about buying sweaters and coats for next season, now is a great time to purchase pieces on sale that will be on trend in the Fall!

As I watched some of the shows and looked back at pictures of the ones I missed, the word that kept coming to mind was glamour. From bold embellishments and metallics to fur and feathers, designers seemed to lean towards a disco for daytime look. There were still plenty of graphic prints, plaid, colorblocking, rich colors, leather and lace from seasons in the past. Some of the new trends were fringe on clothing and accessories, oversized coats and capes and pastels in soft blues and pinks. A couple of colors that I saw repeated in many shows were caramel and berry. Mules will not only be on trend for Spring but will also carry into Fall. I loved seeing the concept of a purse-muff, a purse that doubles as a hand warmer, from both Tory Burch and BCBG.

Now is the time to buy these looks on sale for next season! As stores are clearancing Winter merchandise keep these trends in mind to get the look for less. Also as you are shopping for Spring, remember that there are items that could translate from Spring and Summer to Fall and Winter. Pastels and Mules are two big trends to invest in to get you through all of the seasons.

Dreaming of the glamour that is to come this Fall is going to have to help get me through the next six months of hot weather here in Florida. What is your favorite season and what trends are you most looking forward to in the Fall?

Color Course - Basic Grey

Is your closet a sea of black, white, navy and grey? Do you tend to stick to neutrals because you are a little afraid of color and not quite sure how to implement it into your wardrobe? Today I am going to push you out of your comfort zone and expand your color pallette beyond your basic grey!

Most women who shy away from color tend to always think of black when they think of grey. They add a black scarf, black jewelry, black shoes, black handbag and play it safe. The easiest (and not too scary) way of updating your look is just by adding one color accessory. Just one! It will completely change your look but you'll still feel comfortable if adding color is new to you. It doesn't matter what color it is or what accessory it is, just pick out something you love and swap it out with one of your black pieces and you'll instantly change your look.

If you love color and are used to wearing it, maybe there are some colors that you haven't thought of pairing with grey and need some new ideas. Some of my favorites are pictured above. I also love to pair a colorful print with grey and then one other solid color accessory. Because grey is a neutral, there are so many colors and prints that you can wear with it and color looks good on any age!

By adding one pop of color you will go from looking drab to fab! It will brighten up your look and get you used to seeing yourself in color without taking a huge leap and looking like a box of crayons! Are you willing to try it and if so, what color do you plan on trying? If you usually wear color, what colors do you like to pair with grey?

Trend - The Varsity

As the saying goes "what's old is new again" and nothing fits that saying more than the varsity jacket. This old school style has gotten a fresh update and is the jacket of Spring 2014.

Designers gave the classic look a modern feel by using different fabrics like silk, adding floral or color blocked prints and making the shape more feminine. You will see them everywhere this Spring from high-end designers to the more budget friendly stores.

So how do you wear the varsity look without looking like you are in high school? Well, believe it or not, it's very versatile at any age. You can make it casual by wearing it with jeans and flats or dress it up by pairing it with a dress instead of your typical blazer. If you think of it as a denim jacket you'll soon realize the possibilities are endless. Pair it with looks that you have worn a denim jacket with in the past and you'll instantly have an updated look.

What do you think of the varsity jacket? Will you be sporting this trend and if so, how will you wear it?
