Friday Funday

It's finally Friday and that means it's Friday Funday! The items that I chose this week are of a similar color palette. The last couple of weeks I included some of the bright and fun colors that we all tend to think of when we think of Spring and Summer. This week I wanted to focus on the softer side with pastels and a touch of black, which is still on trend this season. To shop any of these items and get FREE shipping and FREE returns click here.

1. Three Dots Blouson Dress, $128. I love the silhouette of this modern dress. Perfect for date night! Pair it with pastel accessories for Spring like blush, nude or mint.

2. Tom Ford Angelina Sunglasses, $380. Love the arch on these oversized sunglasses!

3. Wilt Boxy Woven Top, $158. This crepe top is the perfect blush color for Spring and has a very flattering shape. Pair it with mint for a pastel look.

4. Vince Camuto Basics Cuff, $48. I love this modern gold cuff! It is also available in several other colors.

5. BP Teardrop Floral Statement Necklace, $24. Perfect mix of blush and mint and it's only $24!

6. Trouve Raley Cuff Wedge Sandal, $99.95. I love the cuff look to this wedge! The nude color would pair well with a black dress or jumpsuit.

7. Rebecca Minkoff Amourous Satchel, $325. This structured satchel is the perfect size for daytime and with zip teeth and leopard interior lining has a slight edge to an otherwise classic look.

8. J Brand 835 Mid Rise Crop Jeans, $185. Always invest in good jeans! I love the mint color for Spring and Summer and this pair would be so versatile for so many looks.

Spring's "It" Shoe - The Mule

One / Two / Three / Four / Five

One / Two / Three / Four / Five / Six

The Mule, once thought of as your Grandma's shoe, has gotten a modern makeover to become this Spring's "It" shoe. The backless shoe is no longer just one shape with a clunky style. There are now endless variations of shapes, heights, colors and styles to choose from. With those kinds of options anyone can wear this seasons trend.

Above are some mule options for every budget. Keep in mind when shopping for a pair that they will still be on trend for Fall so if you don't want to invest in multiple styles, choose one that can carry you into the Fall season.

What do you think of this Spring's "It" shoe? Are you on board or does it make you want to jump ship?! After seeing some of the new sleek styles I'm on board. Shoe shopping anyone?

New York Fashion Week - Fall 2014

All six looks above are from Rebecca Minkoff. I love the variation of her collection this year from cool girl bold plaid and metallics to soft pastel feminine hues.
I was intrigued by watching this collection by Mathieu Mirano. He is a young, relatively new designer and as you can see from several of his looks above, I think he is one to watch.

I know right now we are all focused on Spring and starting to put together our warm weather looks but last week in New York it was all about Fall 2014. Designers showed their collections while editors, buyers and bloggers watched with excited anticipation of what's to come! I have to admit, I'm a Fall and Winter kind of girl, so this is always my favorite fashion week. There is something about cozy sweaters, rich colors, leather jackets, boots and metallics that makes you want to get all dressed up. So even though you may want to wait until August to think about buying sweaters and coats for next season, now is a great time to purchase pieces on sale that will be on trend in the Fall!

As I watched some of the shows and looked back at pictures of the ones I missed, the word that kept coming to mind was glamour. From bold embellishments and metallics to fur and feathers, designers seemed to lean towards a disco for daytime look. There were still plenty of graphic prints, plaid, colorblocking, rich colors, leather and lace from seasons in the past. Some of the new trends were fringe on clothing and accessories, oversized coats and capes and pastels in soft blues and pinks. A couple of colors that I saw repeated in many shows were caramel and berry. Mules will not only be on trend for Spring but will also carry into Fall. I loved seeing the concept of a purse-muff, a purse that doubles as a hand warmer, from both Tory Burch and BCBG.

Now is the time to buy these looks on sale for next season! As stores are clearancing Winter merchandise keep these trends in mind to get the look for less. Also as you are shopping for Spring, remember that there are items that could translate from Spring and Summer to Fall and Winter. Pastels and Mules are two big trends to invest in to get you through all of the seasons.

Dreaming of the glamour that is to come this Fall is going to have to help get me through the next six months of hot weather here in Florida. What is your favorite season and what trends are you most looking forward to in the Fall?

Color Course - Basic Grey

Is your closet a sea of black, white, navy and grey? Do you tend to stick to neutrals because you are a little afraid of color and not quite sure how to implement it into your wardrobe? Today I am going to push you out of your comfort zone and expand your color pallette beyond your basic grey!

Most women who shy away from color tend to always think of black when they think of grey. They add a black scarf, black jewelry, black shoes, black handbag and play it safe. The easiest (and not too scary) way of updating your look is just by adding one color accessory. Just one! It will completely change your look but you'll still feel comfortable if adding color is new to you. It doesn't matter what color it is or what accessory it is, just pick out something you love and swap it out with one of your black pieces and you'll instantly change your look.

If you love color and are used to wearing it, maybe there are some colors that you haven't thought of pairing with grey and need some new ideas. Some of my favorites are pictured above. I also love to pair a colorful print with grey and then one other solid color accessory. Because grey is a neutral, there are so many colors and prints that you can wear with it and color looks good on any age!

By adding one pop of color you will go from looking drab to fab! It will brighten up your look and get you used to seeing yourself in color without taking a huge leap and looking like a box of crayons! Are you willing to try it and if so, what color do you plan on trying? If you usually wear color, what colors do you like to pair with grey?

Trend - The Varsity

As the saying goes "what's old is new again" and nothing fits that saying more than the varsity jacket. This old school style has gotten a fresh update and is the jacket of Spring 2014.

Designers gave the classic look a modern feel by using different fabrics like silk, adding floral or color blocked prints and making the shape more feminine. You will see them everywhere this Spring from high-end designers to the more budget friendly stores.

So how do you wear the varsity look without looking like you are in high school? Well, believe it or not, it's very versatile at any age. You can make it casual by wearing it with jeans and flats or dress it up by pairing it with a dress instead of your typical blazer. If you think of it as a denim jacket you'll soon realize the possibilities are endless. Pair it with looks that you have worn a denim jacket with in the past and you'll instantly have an updated look.

What do you think of the varsity jacket? Will you be sporting this trend and if so, how will you wear it?
